Alexandria, in the name of Alexander III of Macedonia, ca. 310-305 B.C. Diademed head of Alexander the Great right, wearing elephant's skin headdress; small Δ to right of elephant's ear / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Athena Alkidemos advancing right, brandishing spear and holding shield on outstretched arm; in right field, monogram and eagle standing right on thunderbolt. Svoronos 110; cf. SNG Copenhagen 19 (helmet in field). Toned, obverse slightly double struck, small banker's mark on chin, porosity on reverse, thin, brittle edge from 9-11 h. Good very fine.
