Bare head of Caesar right / Nike advancing right, holding wreath and palm; in left and right fields, monograms; in exergue, date (ςΛΣ). RG 11; Weiser -; RPC 2026. Very rare. Two-toned tan patina, pit on neck. Fine.

This is the earliest portrait of Julius Caesar to appear on his coinage, which was struck more than two years prior to his earliest Imperial coin portraits found on the denarii of M. Mettius in 44 B.C.
