Pio VI was the 250th pope. During his ponitificate, he had to face the consequences of the French Revolution that affected the clergy.

This multiple of 5 Zecchini was struck in Bologna, which had been under the rule of the Papal States since the creation of a Concordat in 1516, which ended with the french Civil Constitution of the Clergy created during the French Revolution.
