THRACO-MACEDONIAN REGION, Siris. Circa 525-480 BC. AR Stater (18.5mm, 9.74 g). Contemporary imitation?. Ithyphallic satyr standing right, holding tail and raising arm, confronting nymph standing right, right hand lowered in protest, left hand holding wreath / Quadripartite incuse square. Unpublished with this incuse type, but for similar obverse, cf. Peykov A0060; cf. HPM pl. VII, 2–3; cf. HGC 3, 532. VF, toned, struck with worn obverse die.

While the style of the obverse is identical to particular issues at Siris, the reverse incuse, which is deep and laterally divided with slightly canted and granulated quadrants, was not used at this city. In fact, this incuse type is highly unusual for the period in this region, and is most reminiscent of 4th century issues of Byzantion and Kalchedon.
