Zaydi Imams of the Banu Hamza
al-Mutawakkil 'alâ llâh Ahmad, 623-656 H./1226-1258 AD, naming him as heir to his father al-Mansûr. Mansûrî dirham 644 H., Talammus. 1.68 g.; Very rare mint Extremely fine
The mint of Talammus or Talmus with sâd as last letter was not known to Lowick 1983. It was a castle and town to the Southwest of Sa'da, frequently mentioned both in Zaydî and Rasûlid historical sources. al-Khazrajî, 'Uqûd I 73 lists Talammus among the few places which were not under Rasûlid control in the year 642 H. For the variant vocalizations of the placename and Yaqût's unusual version with an article see G.R. Smith, Ayyubids II p. 209.
