(engraver) inside legend A SU LIBERTADOR SIMON BOLIVAR; reverse with arms inside legend EL PERU RESTAURADO EN AYACUCHO ANO DE 1824. Popular medal instituted by law in 1825 to commemorate the Battle of Ayacucho (1824), which finally ended Spanish rule in Peru. Deep mirror proof-like surfaces with heavily frosted devices; overall well-centered and detailed strike. A true gem and the finest specimen we have ever seen. NGC #4489239-001.
