1848 1C N-35, R.2, MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. Die State a. The strike is weak on the stars, as usual for the early die state, but the central devices are well-rendered. This lustrous Gem displays well-balanced copper-red, orange-gold, and burgundy hues with occasional accents of steel-blue. There is no obvious carbon spotting. Our EAC grade MS63. Population (all varieties included): 26 in 65 Red and Brown, 6 finer; 4 in 65 Red, 0 finer. CAC: 19 in 65, 2 finer (9/17).
