Proof Lincoln Cents
1936 1C Type One--Satin Finish PR65 Red PCGS Secure. Two styles of proof Lincoln cents were coined in 1936, following a two decade intermission of proof coinage production since the last matte proofs were minted in 1916. The initial 1936 proofs had a satin finish such as the piece offered here, and those struck later in the year had a brilliant finish with deeply mirrored fields. Both styles are highly collectible, and elusive in higher grades. This pleasing Gem exhibits the expected bold strike, with brilliant orange mint color on the satin surfaces with a trivial splash of darker toning on the reverse.
