1818 25C B-4, R.2, XF40 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 1/1. Variegated toning occupies the obverse margins and much of the adjacent fields in shades of steel-blue, deep-umber, and amber-gold, while the portrait is silver-gray and only faintly toned. The reverse shows golden accents at the borders and a mostly brilliant surface. Faint lines and tiny marks combine with high point wear to determine the assigned grade.
