Proof Seated Quarters
1874 25C Arrows PR64 NGC. Briggs 5-D. A wormlike die scratch from the upper-left shield edge into the left (facing) wing feathers is an unusual marker for a proof die, but diagnostic on the 1874 Arrows proofs. This glassy-mirrored proof is nearly brilliant with a whisper of pale-gold patina at the central obverse. A few delicate lines and areas of minor, faint obverse cloudiness are noted, yet this moderately contrasted proof easily achieves its near-Gem grade level. Census: 84 in 64 (2 in 64+, 1 in 64★), 69 finer (9/17).
