1818 25C B-2, R.1, MS65 NGC. Tompkins Die State 5/4. The obverse has heavy clash marks and die cracks, including the main crack over the cap extending to star 10, and then boldly to the rim. Another crack joins the main crack and the rim at about 12 o'clock. Additional minor cracks are noted. The reverse also exhibits heavy clash marks and die cracks on this late-die state specimen. Later die states are known, but not much later than this near-terminal specimen. This Gem is impressively lustrous with hints of rose and peach toning over otherwise silver-white surfaces. It is well-struck and pleasingly preserved with great eye appeal. Census: 20 in 65 (1 in 65+), 12 finer (8/17).
