Proof Seated Quarters
1858 25C PR66 NGC. Briggs 5-E. Proof mintages benefited from the Mint's willingness to strike a predetermined quantity for the public, rather than "on order and as needed" from favored dealers and paying clients as in preceding years. The new policy included a willingness to actively market the proofs. This is a brightly reflective, richly toned Premium Gem imbued with shades of cerulean-blue and reddish-rose. Unaccustomed to the large mintage, the Mint undoubtedly encountered some issues, as evidenced by a faint die crack through the arrowheads. Census: 8 in 66, 2 finer (9/17).
