Early Half Dollars
1794 50C O-101a, T-7, High R.3, Fine 12 NGC. Tompkins Die State 1/4. The reverse crack below S in STATES is in a later stage, with slightly biplanar surface showing sinking of the die. This is a strong coin for the assigned grade, well-defined in most respects and problem-free. Attractive old-silver color lightens on the high points. The rims and dentils are bold on both sides, while about 50% of the hair strands and wing feathers remain visible. A glass reveals only superficial light marks across the finely granular surfaces.
