Barber Half Dollars
1893 50C MS67 PCGS. Like many second-year issues, the 1893 half dollar has a significant drop in high-grade availability from its predecessor. While PCGS has graded 14 1892 half dollars as MS67 or better, this is the only Superb Gem example of the 1893 half known to that service (9/17). Subtly frosted surfaces shimmer with bright, silver luster that shows no evidence of color on either side. Details are uncommonly crisp, particularly on the eagle's talons, and though a few tiny luster grazes affect the portrait, it is clear from the first glance that this coin is remarkable.
