Morgan Dollars
1879-CC $1 MS65 NGC. This is the Normal Mintmark variant with the CC bold and sharp. The 756,000-coin mintage was the eighth highest of all Carson City Morgan dollars, but few examples were saved in the Treasury vaults. Since most examples entered circulation, high-level Mint State coins such as this one are elusive. Slightly merged hair strands over Liberty's ear are expected, although all other design elements are bold. Both sides exhibit scattered, microscopic marks on the frosty silver surfaces with delicate peripheral gold toning. Census: 42 in 65 (3 in 65+, 1 in 65★), 2 finer (9/17).
