1889-CC $1 MS63 NGC. VAM-4. Ex: Northern Lights Collection. The obverse die is perfect and the reverse die displays delicate die cracks through much of the legend. There are five documented die varieties, and any piece that does not match one of the five varieties is immediately suspect as a possible counterfeit. Such pieces abound. However, this unquestionably genuine Select Mint State piece will enjoy heightened bidder activity. Both sides are fully brilliant, untoned, and lustrous with satiny surfaces and outstanding eye appeal. NGC and PCGS have graded 250 examples of the 1889-CC in MS63 and finer grades (9/17).
