The availability of the 1896-S Morgan drops sharply at the Gem grade level, making this Plus-designated Choice coin immensely attractive to collectors seeking a high-quality piece at a lower price point. The strike is weak above Liberty's ear and on the eagle's breast, as usual for dollars of this period, but Liberty's cheek is remarkably clean and attractive. The coin is brilliant across the interiors with tinges of amber-red toning appearing at the extreme outer obverse periphery.
