Proof Morgan Dollars
1879 $1 PR67 Cameo PCGS. The 1879 proof Morgan dollar is quite elusive in high grade with field-device contrast. Only two Deep Cameos are known in all grades (both at PCGS), and Cameos are rare in Superb Gem condition. We last offered a PR67 Cameo in lot 4220 of our August 2015 ANA Signature sale, where a PCGS coin realized $14,100. This example is every bit its equal, showing stark contrast and warm champagne toning. The surfaces are pristine. This is only the third PCGS coin in this grade that we have handled. Population: 5 in 67 Cameo, 2 finer; 1 in 67 Deep Cameo, 0 finer (8/17).
