Proof Morgan Dollars
1883 $1 PR67 Cameo PCGS Secure. Morgan dollars and Trade dollars were issued in 1883, the final year of full scale Trade dollar production with a mintage of 979 proofs. A slightly higher production of 1,039 proof Morgan dollars was issued that year. This gorgeous Cameo proof exhibits delicate blue, gold, and iridescent toning on the obverse, with lighter gold toning on the reverse. The field-to-device contrast is excellent. This piece is tied with one other PCGS example for the finest Cameo proof. PCGS has only graded three Deep Cameo proof 1883 Morgan dollars, all certified at the PR66 grade level. Population: 2 in 67 Cameo, 2 finer non-Cameo (9/17).
