Gold Dollars
1853-O G$1 MS65 NGC. Variety 1. High Date. New Orleans gold dollar output reached 290,000 coins in 1853. Mint State examples are collectible through MS63 and even MS64, but Gems are true condition rarities. This delightfully frosty, rose-gold example features full strike definition throughout the obverse. The reverse, too, is strongly defined. Bold clashing occurs in the fields on that side. Beautifully preserved. Census: 8 in 65, 2 finer (8/17).
