1834 $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. Breen-6138, Variety 1, R.1. Small Head. The 1834 Classic Head quarter eagle is far more available than its Capped Bust counterpart struck earlier in 1834. The new series saw a reduction in both weight and fineness to counteract the effects of rising gold prices. Orange-gold surfaces are well-struck throughout. Softly glowing luster radiates from each side. Wispy marks define the grade.
