Early Half Eagles
1810 $5 Large Date, Large 5, BD-4, R.2, AU58 NGC. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/a, uncracked. Parallel planchet roller marks are visible on the elevated reverse dentils but are struck out of the fields. The impression is even and sharp, and only light high-point friction is discernible across the design elements. Luster remains in the fields, and the surfaces display original olive-gold color. BD-4 is a plentiful 1810 half eagle variety, suitable for date or type purposes.
