Liberty Double Eagles
1851-O $20 AU53 NGC. Variety 3. Only a few Type One double eagles are readily available for New Orleans type. The 1851-O leads the way thanks to a sizeable mintage of 351,000 pieces. This example retains nice mint luster and displays flashy, medium-gold surfaces. Small abrasions frequent the fields and central devices, but they create minimal impact at the assigned grade level. Sharp definition remains on the devices and the eye appeal is undeniable.
