Liberty Double Eagles
1878-S $20 MS63+ PCGS. Collectible in MS62, the 1878-S double eagle becomes substantially rarer just one grade point finer. The present coin is arguably the most visually appealing MS62 example known. It is the only Plus-graded PCGS coin. The well-struck design elements boast sharp detail and show brightly frosted, radiant mint luster. Nothing more than a few stray lines on the obverse limit the grade from even higher consideration, and the reverse is pristine. The eye appeal is simply exceptional. PCGS reports only one finer coin, an MS64 (9/17).
