Liberty Double Eagles
1882-CC $20 AU58+ PCGS. CAC. Variety 1-B. This variety is easily attributable by the die crack along the bases of the letters in TWENTY DOLLARS and, to a lesser extent, by the vertical spike in front of the eye of Liberty. Even though only 39,140 pieces were struck from two die pairs, the 1882-CC twenty is one of the more available CC double eagles. Just the slightest thinning is noticeable in the fields, while most of each side is still covered in thick mint frost. Strike definition is bold throughout and there are a number of abrasions, the most easily seen ones are a series of shallow, horizontal marks across the cheek of Liberty.
