Liberty Double Eagles
1889-CC $20 MS60 PCGS. Variety 1-A. Coinage production at the Carson City Mint resumed in 1889 after a break in operations dating back to 1885. The facility limited output to 30,945 double eagles and 350,000 Morgan dollars upon resumption. Both issues are in ever-strong demand but are especially elusive in high grades. The 1889-CC twenty is very scarce in mint condition. Examples are almost unseen beyond MS62, and even they push the limits of obtainability. This MS60 offering has numerous scattered marks across rose-gold surfaces. Abundant mint frost shimmers over sharply rendered relief elements.
