1875-S T$1 Type One Reverse MS64 PCGS. Large S mintmark. This is a brilliant-white and richly frosted near-Gem Trade dollar, with exceptionally vibrant cartwheel luster. The huge mintage of 4,487,000 pieces -- although it pales in comparison to the 1877-S mintage of more than 9.5 million pieces -- yields a fair number of near-Gem examples, but few are as sharply struck and lightly marked as this Choice coin. A solitary reeding mark near star 3 is the sole abrasion of note. PCGS reports just 42 numerically finer examples (9/17).
