1887/6-O $1 VAM-3 MS64 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. An intense freckling of cobalt blue, charcoal, forest-green, and aqua allows silver luster to shine through the variegated patina on the obverse. The reverse is more traditionally toned in smooth, frosted shades of copper-gold and aquamarine. While the overdate feature is well-hidden amid the toning, it is visible with a steady hand and strong lens. The New Orleans strike lacks definition over the ear. PCGS has still certified just a single numerically finer example of this variety, a situation that has not changed in recent years (9/17).
