1890-CC $1 MS65 PCGS. The generous mintage of 2.3 million pieces makes this an available Carson City date in lower grades, but true Gem examples are rare, and the issue is virtually unobtainable in Premium Gem or finer. This tastefully toned Gem is attractive and lustrous, with a azure-blue at the rims and orange a vignette of orange shades over both sides of the coin. The strike is a bit soft at the very centers, but bold elsewhere. Silver luster shines through the light, colorful toning for nice eye appeal. Just 16 pieces are numerically finer at PCGS (9/17).
