1891-S $1 MS66 PCGS. Undoubtedly many of the lower-grade Uncirculated 1891-S dollars we have today came from the holdings of LaVere Redfield. But one has to wonder about the few high-grade pieces and where they originated. This is a lovely Premium Gem that is almost brilliant, except for the ring of golden patina around the obverse rim. The reverse is at least semiprooflike and perhaps fully prooflike, but that mirroring is not matched by the finish on the obverse.
