1925 Medal Norse, Thin Planchet, MS66 PCGS. CAC. In 1925, Minnesota Congressman Ole J. Kvale and South Dakota Senator Peter Norbeck sponsored legislation for the production of a medal to commemorate the landing of the Norwegian ship Restauration at New York in 1825. James Earle Fraser was chosen to design the medal. Two variants were struck, including one with a Thin Planchet (6,000 coins) and another with a Thick Planchet (33,750 pieces). This MS66 example of the scarcer variety features pale almond-gold and lilac patina over frosty surfaces. A single tick occurs above the head of the last Viking rower. Population: 15 in 66, 0 finer.
