Classic Quarter Eagles
1834 $2 1/2 AU53 PCGS. CAC. Variety 3. This is the scarcest of four known die varieties of 1834 Classic Head quarter eagles. The obverse has the Large Head that Breen called the "Booby Head" for unknown reasons. The reverse has AM closely spaced with the M perfectly formed. A short die crack connects the left (facing) wing to the border. A pleasing example, this quarter eagle exhibits partially lustrous green-gold surfaces with trivial handling marks.
