Liberty Double Eagles
1850 $20 AU50 PCGS. The first regular year of issue in the double eagle series enjoys a large mintage that exceeds 1.1 million coins. Although the 1850 survives to a great extent, most examples are well-circulated and demand always outpaces supply. The stars are a trifle soft, and blending occurs over Liberty's curls and the eagle's wingtips, but the impression is generally well-defined. Orange-gold surfaces are predictably abraded.
