Liberty Double Eagles
1882-CC $20 XF40 PCGS. Variety 1-A. Production of double eagles was resumed in 1882, after none were struck the previous two years, with an adequate mintage of 39,140 pieces. The issue is relatively available in circulated condition, but high-grade examples are elusive. This XF40 specimen shows some light wear on the well-detailed design elements and the lightly abraded orange-gold surfaces retain traces of original mint luster.
