1767-A 9 DEN French Colonies Copper Sou, Paris Mint, Vlack 1-A, No RF Counterstamp -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Die alignment: 180º. A bold example of this intriguing issue, one of only a small fraction of these pieces without an RF counterstamp. Both the central devices and peripheral legends are boldly struck, though the obverse, as usual, appears a bit soft. These pieces are a legitimate part of the French Colonial series, though any circulation in the Louisiana territory was unofficial. Listed on page 55 of the 2018 Guide Book.
