Crispina, wife of Commodus (died 183 AD). AE Sestertius, 178-182 AD. Obv. CRISPINA AVGVSTA. Draped bust right. Rev. CONCORDIA SC. Concordia seated left, holding patera and cornucopiae. RIC (Comm.) 665. AE. g. 21.20 mm. 32.00 A very attractive example. Slight traces of smoothing. Dark green patina. About EF/Good VF.

Bruttia Crispina, daughter of L. Fulvius Bruttius Praesens, was married to the sixteen-year-old Commodus in 177 AD. Early in her husband's sole reign she was accused of adultery, banished to Capri and later put to death (183 AD).
