Tibet. Theocracy Kuang-hsu gold Off-Metal 1/2 Rupee ND (1905) AU55 NGC, KM-Y2a, L&M-361var. (Szechuan), Kann-585var. (Szechuan). A rose-orange toned example of this off-metal striking, with full definition throughout the design, little observed highpoint wear, and a sparkling appearance in the fields. A small flan imperfection appears in the field to the left of the central bust, and light handling, including a set of well-blended marks near the edge at 4 o'clock, define the grade. Very rarely encountered in gold and as a result, a coin that should fit nicely into a collection of important coins from the Imperial period.
