KINGS OF BITHYNIA. Prusias I Chloros, circa 230-182 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 16.74 g, 12 h). Diademed head of Prusias to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΡΟΥΣΙΟΥ Zeus standing left, crowning the king's name with an olive wreath held in his right hand and holding a long scepter in his left; to left, thunderbolt above two monograms. RG 9b. SNG von Aulock 6878. Well centered. Hair and beard tooled and recut. Good fine.

From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, ex Hamburger 98, 3 April 1933, 816.

Sold as is with no right of return. The fact that this coin was sold in 1933 with no note of its recut obverse may have been due to the turbulent events of that year in Germany: Dr. Nussbaum must have had other things on his mind when he catalogued this coin.
