SICILY. Selinos. Circa 455-409 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.88 g, 1 h). Apollo and Artemis standing right in a quadriga moving slowly to right; in exergue, wheat grain . Rev. ΣΕΛΙΝΟΝΤΙΟN The river-god Selinos, horned and nude, holding laurel branch in his left hand and a phiale in his right; to left, rooster standing left before altar; to right, selinon leaf over bull standing left on a base. Schwabacher 31 (Q8/S22). SNG ANS 700 (same dies). Toned and well centered. Struck from the usual worn obverse die, and with traces of corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, nearly very fine.
