South Germany, Mars, oval bronze plaquette, 2nd half of 16th century, Mars standing, bare-chested, holding shield and sword beneath two trees, his cuirass on the ground 65.2mm x 48.3mm (Bange (1923) 5808 and pl. 25 for example in lead), pierced, very fine contemporary cast.
