BRUNSWICK-LÜNEBURG-CALENBERG: Ernst August, 1679-1698, AR thaler, 1681, Dav-6592, KM-279., wildman type, EF-AU. Ernest August was Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and also ruled over the Principality of Calenberg. August was appointed Prince-elector by Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I, but he died before the appointment became effective in 1708. He is still given recognition as the first Elector of Hannover.
