Geta as Caesar, praenomen altered in die. ; Geta as Caesar, praenomen altered in die; 198-209 AD, Nicaea, Bithynia, AE 13.5-14.5, 1.64g. Cf. Rec. Gén.-513, pl. LXXX.20 (same obv. die, but in earlier state with praenomen ? not ?). Obv: ? CE? - GETAC K Bare head r. Rx: NIKA - ?EON Club upright, handle at top. Geta's praenomen was apparently altered from ? to ? in this obverse die: two other coins from the same obverse die, RG pl. LXXX.20 and a coin in Berk stock with reverse Winged caduceus, seem to show the legend beginning with ? not ?. Another specimen with praenomen ? as on the present coin, but reverse Temple: CNG E213, 2009, lot 275. Rare: Recueil Général-513 lists only one example, in Paris, which however has praenomen ? not ? on obverse; not in SNG Aulock, SNG Copenhagen, SNG Leypold, Lindgren, CoinArchives Pro, or Berk photofile..
