Bactrian Emmense Sandstone Column Idol; ca. late 3rd to early 2nd millennium BC. The idol is of a gently tapering concave cylindrical form which flares out at the top. On the top and bottom surface there is a single shallow channel. These are usually done in very attractive stones, as in the case of this example, which is rendered in a pink sandstone with purple veins. Ex Harlan J. Berk, Ltd.
