Hellenistic Hellenistic or Roman Egyptian Terracotta Harpocrates; Late Hellenistic to Early Roman Egyptian Period, 1st Century BC. This is a larger and a very nice example of the blending of Classical Greek and Egyptian art forms. With the compelling contact with Classical art forms of the Greeks, the Egyptian God Harparcrates takes the classical modeling of Eros complete with cornucopia, while retaining the original youthful guise and lip touching gesture of the Egyptian god. This votive is unusually well done for this type and period. Old regluing to neck with scattered abrasions. H. 10 3/4" (27 cm)..
