THRACE. Abdera. Ca. 415-385 BC. AR stater (24mm, 12.78 gm, 7h). NGC Choice VF 3/5 - 3/5. Apollados, magistrate. Griffin springing left, wings spread for flight / EΠI AΠOΛ [Λ-AΔ]-OΣ Apollo standing left, holding patera in right hand and long laurel branch over left shoulder. May, Abdera, 350 (A253/P296). AMNG II, 88 and pl. III, 9. Very rare, apparently the third example known. Somewhat weakly struck both sides, with areas of roughness. Gray toning.
