Hadrian (AD 117-138). Orichalcum sestertius (30mm, 25.22 gm, 6h). NGC XF 5/5 - 3/5, Fine Style. Rome, AD 136. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS AVG COS III P P, laureate and draped bust of Hadrian left / RESTITVTOR GALLIAE, Hadrian standing right, raising seated female figure of Gallia to her feet, S C in exergue. RIC 950. BMCRE 1809. Rare, particularly with bust left! Red-brown patina, a bit rough in spots, but with no signs of tooling or smoothing. A handsome sestertius celebrating Hadrian's "restoration" of Gaul.
