Republic silver "Gratitude of Chuquisaca" Medal 1825 MS62 NGC, Potosi mint, Fonrobert-9740, Burnett-6A. An intricately engraved, broad medal that was created by the town of Chuquisaca for Simon Bolivar (whose bust adorns the obverse) who had just successfully waged a war against Spain for independence. Rare in this quality, the strike remains notably sharp and the surfaces fresh, with variegated tone resting over obviously flashy fields. Among the nicest we've encountered of this issue and very collectible as a tribute piece to the man known as "The Great Liberator" throughout South America.
