Merovingian. Anonymous gold Tremissis ND (c. 560-600) VF - Scratches, Nantes (?) mint, 1.33g, cf. MEC I-459 for similar type. И II (blundered), crude diademed bust right / Degenerate Victory with "N" in exergue. A very unusual example in terms of style, the legends, bust, and victory being extremely crude. While most closely resembling the aforementioned type in MEC, there is a better than even chance this is either a local or Visigothic imitation, contemporary to the Nantes type and struck in good metal. A handful of ancient scratches are noted, but are not immediately noticeable without the aid of a glass.
