Mughal Empire. Muhammad Shah Jahan gold Mohur ND (AH 1038) Year 2 (1628) MS64 NGC, Surat mint, KM255.6, Fr-787. Likely from the Akola hoard discovered and subsequently dispersed in the 1970's, this lustrous near-gem features strongly struck legends on each side. A well-centered strike, the complete form of the kalima, along with the mint, RY date formula, and titles are all intact, making this a decidedly pleasing and desirable piece.
