Mexico
Philip V gold Cob Escudo ND (1714) Mo-J MS64 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM51.2. Fully vibrant with a bold shield on the obverse and most of the mintmark and assayer initial remaining visible. The reverse cross style confirms the 1714 date. While many examples of the 4 and 8 escudos denomination were recovered from the 1715 Plate Fleet shipwreck, relatively few 1 escudos were recovered, making this denomination one that is highly sought in top grades.
